Bath Mats Wholesale

Bath mats wholesale — towelling and non-slip bath mats for hotels, spas and retail, made to order.

Bath Mats Wholesale

A bath mat is bought to stop somebody falling over. That is the whole job, and saying it plainly explains every decision that follows: the mat has to be where the guest steps, it has to stay where it is put when it is wet, and it has to take water off a wet foot rather than letting it pool on the floor.

The category splits into two families that behave very differently in a laundry. A towelling mat is made from the same terry as the towels, absorbs well and washes like any other towel. A mat with a coated or sprayed reverse is designed to grip the floor, and that reverse is what limits the temperature the mat can be washed at — the constraint that most often catches a hotel out.

HotelsLinen manufactures bath mats wholesale to a written specification from 500 pieces per style and colour — towelling mats, mats with a non-slip reverse, and the quick-dry mats used in spas and short-stay apartments. Buyers fix the construction, the size, the weight, the reverse treatment and the shade.

The buyers are hotels and resorts, spas and wellness centres, serviced apartments and short-stay rentals, care homes and healthcare settings, and retailers and distributors. Bath mats are bought on the same repeat cycle as towels, but they are stood on rather than used, so they wear out faster per square metre than anything else in the bathroom.

Size is the decision most often got wrong, and it is not about the bathroom. A mat has to cover the area where a guest actually steps out of the shower or bath, which is a zone rather than a square. A mat that is too small leaves the wet patch beside it; a mat that is too large does not clear the door swing or the floor drain.

Weight on a towelling mat does two things: it sets how much water the mat takes up, and it sets how long it takes to dry. A heavy mat holds more water and stays wet longer, and in a bathroom with little airflow it can still be damp at the next use — which is worse than a lighter mat that dries between uses.

The reverse is where a mat fails. A coated reverse is what makes the mat grip and it is also what degrades first: heat, bleach and repeated flexing attack it, and once it has gone the mat becomes a slip risk rather than a slip prevention. Where a mat is going into a commercial laundry that trade-off should be made explicitly rather than discovered at the first hot wash.

Our factory is in the Nantong Home Textile Zone in Jiangsu, China. Orders start at 500 pieces per style and colour with a typical four-week lead time after the sample and specification are approved.

Towelling mat or non-slip reverse

The towelling mat

Made from the same terry as the towels, in the same shade, with a hemmed edge. It absorbs well, washes at whatever temperature the laundry already uses, and can be replaced from the same stock as the bath towels. It does not grip on its own, so it relies on the floor underneath being dry.

The mat with a coated or sprayed reverse

A latex or rubberised reverse makes the mat grip, which is the point of the product and the reason it is specified in care settings and wet rooms. That reverse is heat sensitive: a very hot wash or a hot tumble dry cracks, peels or stiffens it, and once that has happened the mat no longer grips and has to be withdrawn. Agree the wash temperature with the laundry before the order, not after.

Quick-dry and microfibre mats

Lighter constructions that dry in a fraction of the time, used where a mat has to be usable again within the hour — spas with continuous treatment turnover, and short-stay apartments where one mat serves several guests a day. They feel different underfoot and are usually specified for utility rather than for the guest’s impression of the room.

Where bath mats fail

The reverse

On a mat with a coated reverse, the reverse fails first. Heat stiffens or cracks it, bleach attacks it, and repeated flexing splits it at the fold lines. A mat whose reverse has gone is worse than a plain towelling mat, because the guest still relies on it to grip and it no longer does.

The weight being wrong for the drying setup

A mat that is still damp at the next use is a mat that smells. In a bathroom with limited airflow a heavy mat can stay wet for most of the day, and the answer is a lighter or quick-dry construction rather than a heavier one. This is the opposite of the instinct that heavier means better.

The size not covering the step-out zone

The wet patch on a bathroom floor appears where the guest actually steps, which is a zone rather than a square. A mat of the right area but the wrong shape leaves water beside it, and a mat that overlaps a door swing gets pushed out of place every time the door opens.

Sizes and shade matching

Shade matching to the towel programme

A bath mat sits on the floor of the same room as the towels and is usually the largest single area of colour in it. A mat that is a slightly different white from the towels is visible immediately, which is another argument for ordering mats, towels and washcloths from one specification and one shade reference.

Ordering mats with the towels

Mats wear out on a different cycle from towels because they are stood on rather than used, so they are usually re-ordered more often. Keeping them on the same specification means they can be added to a towel re-order without a separate colour match, and it keeps the bathroom consistent without a second supplier.

What to send for a quotation

Whether the mat has to grip the floor, the size of the step-out zone, the wash temperature the laundry runs at, the shade to match, and the replacement rate you expect. The grip requirement and the wash temperature are the two that decide the construction, and they are worth settling together.

What You Get

Why Source Bath Mats Wholesale From HotelsLinen

Towelling and non-slip constructions

A terry mat that washes like the towels, or a mat with a coated reverse that grips the floor where the setting requires it.

Reverse treatment matched to the laundry

We will specify the reverse against the temperature your laundry actually runs at, because heat is what kills a coated reverse.

Quick-dry options

Light and microfibre constructions for spas and short-stay apartments where the mat has to be usable again within the hour.

Sized to the step-out zone

Mat dimensions checked against where a guest actually steps out, not against the bathroom floor area.

Weight matched to airflow

A lighter mat that dries between uses specified where the bathroom has little airflow, because a damp mat is worse than a thin one.

Shade matched to the towels

Mats woven to the same shade standard as the towel programme, because the mat is the largest area of colour in the bathroom.

Hemmed on all four sides

A cut edge frays from the first wash, and a mat is washed as often as a towel while being stood on more.

FAQ

Common Questions

What is the MOQ for bath mats wholesale?

Our standard minimum is 500 pieces per style and colour. Most properties order mats alongside towels on the same specification, which keeps the shade matched without a second supplier.

Should a hotel use non-slip bath mats?

Where the floor is smooth, the setting is a care or healthcare one, or the room has a wet-room shower, a coated reverse is the safer choice because the mat grips on its own. In a standard bathroom with a dry floor a plain towelling mat is adequate and far easier to launder.

Can a non-slip bath mat go in an industrial laundry?

It can, but the reverse is heat sensitive. A very hot wash or a hot tumble dry will crack, peel or stiffen it, and once that happens the mat no longer grips. Agree the maximum temperature with the laundry before ordering rather than after the first batch comes back.

What size should a bath mat be?

Around 50 x 80 cm is the common hotel size, with 60 x 90 cm for a wide shower opening and 40 x 70 cm for a bath. The right size follows where the guest actually steps out, which is a zone rather than a square, and the mat also has to clear the door swing and the floor drain.

Is a heavier bath mat better?

Not necessarily. A heavier mat holds more water and takes longer to dry, and in a bathroom with limited airflow it can still be damp at the next use. A lighter or quick-dry mat that dries between uses is usually the better specification.

Why do bath mats wear out faster than towels?

Because they are stood on rather than used. The mat takes the weight and the abrasion of a wet foot every time somebody leaves the shower, so it wears faster per square metre than any other item in the bathroom and is re-ordered more often.

Can bath mats match our towels exactly?

Yes, if they are ordered from the same shade reference. The mat is usually the largest single area of colour in the bathroom, so a mat that is a slightly different white from the towels is visible immediately. Specifying mats and towels together avoids it.

What are quick-dry bath mats made of?

Light terry or microfibre constructions that give up their water quickly. They are specified where turnover is continuous — spas, short-stay apartments and anywhere one mat serves several guests a day — and they feel different underfoot from a terry mat.

Do you supply bath mats to spas and care settings?

Yes. Bath mats are bought by hotels and resorts, spas and wellness centres, serviced apartments and short-stay rentals, care homes and healthcare settings, and retailers and distributors.

What is the lead time?

About four weeks after the sample and specification are approved. Dyeing for a shade match and any coating on the reverse are the steps most likely to move the date.
