Bulk Towels
Cotton Towels Wholesale
Cotton towels wholesale — bulk cotton terry towels made to your yarn, weight and shade specification.
“100% cotton” is the least useful thing on a towel label. It says what the fibre is and nothing about how it was spun, how long the fibres were, how heavy the yarn is or how the towel was finished — and those four things decide how the towel feels, how much lint it sheds and how long it lasts.
This page is about what to ask for instead. Two towels can both be 100% cotton and differ by a factor of two in yarn fineness, by a noticeable amount in durability, and by a great deal in how they feel after a year of industrial washing. The label is identical; the products are not.
HotelsLinen manufactures cotton towels wholesale to a written specification from 500 pieces per style and colour — terry towels across the guest, hand, face and utility sizes, in standard cotton, long-staple cotton and blends. Buyers fix the yarn, the spinning method, the weight, the size, the border and the shade, and the specification is held for re-orders.
The buyers are hotels and resorts, spas, gyms and fitness clubs, healthcare and care settings, cleaning and janitorial operations, and distributors supplying any of those. Cotton towels are bought on a repeat cycle, and the failure that matters is a re-order that does not behave like the stock already in service.
Staple length is the first question and the one that is hardest to see. Standard upland cotton has shorter fibres; Egyptian and Turkish cotton have longer ones. Longer fibres spin into a finer, stronger yarn with fewer ends protruding from the surface, which is what produces a smoother hand and less lint. It is a fibre property and it cannot be added at the finishing stage.
Spinning method is the second. Ring-spun yarn is denser and stronger and holds its structure across repeated industrial washing; open-end yarn is cheaper, lighter in the hand and goes flat and thin sooner. A towel described as 100% cotton can be either, and this is usually the real reason one programme outlasts another.
Weight is the third, and it is the one buyers fix on first and understand least. GSM sets how much water the towel takes up and how long it takes to dry, and heavier is not automatically better: a heavier towel costs more to wash, dry and fold, and can reduce how many pieces a laundry turns around in a day.
Our factory is in the Nantong Home Textile Zone in Jiangsu, China, with weaving, dyeing, cutting, hemming and embroidery in one supply chain. Orders start at 500 pieces per style and colour with a typical four-week lead time after the sample and specification are approved.
“100% cotton” tells you almost nothing
Staple length
Short-staple upland cotton and long-staple Egyptian or Turkish cotton behave differently in the same construction. Longer fibres give a finer, stronger yarn with fewer surface ends, so the towel feels smoother and sheds less lint. This is a fibre property, decided before the yarn is spun.
Spinning method
Ring-spun yarn is denser and stronger and holds its weight and surface across repeated industrial washing. Open-end yarn is cheaper, lighter in the hand and goes flat sooner. Both are 100% cotton, and this is usually the real difference between two programmes at different price points.
Combed or carded
Combing removes short fibres and impurities before spinning, leaving a cleaner, stronger, softer yarn. Carded yarn keeps them, which is cheaper and slightly rougher. A towel can be 100% combed or 100% carded cotton and the label reads the same.
Ply and weight
Single-ply yarn makes a lighter, softer towel; two-ply makes a denser, heavier one that holds its shape longer. Neither is better in isolation — what matters is whether the ply and the weight suit the laundry the towel is going into and the hand the property wants.

How to compare two cotton towels
Read the construction, not the label
Ask for the fibre, the staple description, the spinning method, the ply and the weight in GSM. Two quotations can then actually be compared. Without those five, a price difference tells you nothing about what is being bought.
Wash the sample before you judge it
A towel straight off the loom is not how it will behave in service. The pile opens and the yarn relaxes after the first wash, and shrinkage appears on the first high-temperature cycle rather than gradually. Assess the sample washed, and check whether it still measures what it measured before.
Check the hem and the border
The hem is where a towel fails first. A cut or lightly finished edge frays from the first wash and then unravels along the whole side. On a towel that will be washed hundreds of times, the edge construction is worth as much attention as the weight.
Where standard cotton is the right buy
Utility and back-of-house
Bar mops, kitchen towels, housekeeping cloths, gym and pool towels. These are washed harder, replaced sooner and never handled closely by a guest, so paying a long-staple premium buys a quality nobody is judging. Standard cotton in a sound construction is the better decision.
Guest-facing items
The bath towel and especially the face cloth are the opposite case. They are handled closely and against skin, so the difference between standard and long-staple cotton is felt rather than inferred. Upgrading only those two items is a common and efficient way to buy the benefit.
Where a blend makes sense
Cotton-polyester blends cost less, crease less and dry faster, and they are reasonable for high-turnover utility stock. They feel different against skin and are not what a guest expects in a bathroom, so blends usually stay out of the guest-facing set.
What You Get
Why Source Cotton Towels Wholesale From HotelsLinen
Specified by construction, not by label
Fibre, staple, spinning method, ply and weight given explicitly, so two quotations can be compared instead of two price tags.
Standard and long-staple cotton
Upland cotton for utility and high-turnover stock, Egyptian and Turkish cotton for the items that touch skin.
Ring-spun and open-end
Both available, with an honest account of what each does to weight retention and service life across industrial washing.
Weight matched to the laundry
GSM chosen against drying capacity as well as hand feel, because a heavier towel can reduce the pieces a laundry processes in a day.
Edge construction specified
Hems and borders built to survive repeated washing, because the edge is where a towel fails first.
Colour held for re-orders
Shades matched to a Pantone reference or an approved physical swatch and kept on file, which is what makes a later batch matchable.
Sample assessed washed
Samples checked after a wash rather than as received, because pile opens, yarn relaxes and shrinkage appears on the first hot cycle.

FAQ
Common Questions
What is the MOQ for cotton towels wholesale?
Our standard minimum is 500 pieces per style and colour, which covers setting the warp and running a dye lot. Above that, price improves in tiers because the same setup is spread across more pieces.
What does GSM mean on a towel?
Grams per square metre — the weight of the fabric. It sets how much water the towel takes up and how long it takes to dry. Mid-market guest towels commonly sit around 450 to 550 GSM and upper-upscale towels around 550 to 700 GSM. Heavier feels plusher, dries more slowly and costs more to launder.
Is 100% cotton enough to describe a towel?
No. It says nothing about staple length, spinning method, whether the yarn was combed, the ply or the weight — which between them decide hand feel, lint and service life. Ask for those five and the specification becomes comparable.
What is the difference between ring-spun and open-end cotton?
Ring-spun yarn is denser and stronger and holds its weight and surface across repeated industrial washing. Open-end yarn is cheaper, lighter in the hand and goes flat sooner. Both are 100% cotton, and this is usually the real reason one towel programme outlasts another.
Why does a towel feel different after washing?
Because the yarn relaxes and the pile opens up. A towel straight off the loom is not how it behaves in service, which is why a sample should be assessed after a wash rather than as received — and why shrinkage should be checked at the same time.
Are Egyptian and Turkish cotton worth the premium?
On the items that touch skin, yes. Longer staple fibres mean fewer surface ends, so the towel feels smoother and sheds less lint. On utility and back-of-house stock that is washed hard and never handled closely, standard cotton is the better buy.
Why do our towels fray at the edges?
Because the hem is where a towel fails first. A cut or lightly finished edge frays from the first wash and then unravels along the side. On a towel washed hundreds of times the edge construction matters as much as the weight.
How long does a cotton towel last?
It follows the wash regime rather than the calendar. A guest towel washed after every use at high temperature can see well over a hundred cycles a year. Ring-spun yarn and a sound hem extend that life considerably compared with a lighter open-end construction.
Cotton or a cotton blend?
Blends cost less, crease less and dry faster, which suits high-turnover utility stock. They feel different against skin and are not what a guest expects in a bathroom, so blends usually stay out of the guest-facing set.
What is the lead time?
About four weeks after the sample and specification are approved. Weaving and dyeing run first, then cutting, hemming and any embroidery, then packing.
