Sublimation Towels Wholesale
Sublimation towels wholesale — full-colour, edge-to-edge printed towels on polyester for sport, resorts and retail.
Sublimation is not printing in the usual sense. The design is turned into a gas and driven into the fibre, so the towel comes out of the process with the colour inside the yarn rather than sitting on top of it. The result holds up to washing in a way that surface print does not, and it is the only method that gives an edge-to-edge, photographic image on a towel.
The catch is chemistry, and it decides everything else. Sublimation dyes only bond to polyester. On cotton there is nothing for the gas to attach to, so a cotton towel cannot be sublimated — not with a better press, not with a longer dwell time. A sublimation programme is a polyester programme, and the brief has to start there.
HotelsLinen manufactures sublimation towels wholesale to a written specification from 500 pieces per style and colour. Buyers fix the fabric (polyester or a high-polyester blend), the weight, the size, the print coverage and the packing, and the artwork is proofed on a physical sample before bulk production.
The buyers are sports clubs and event organisers, gyms and studios, resorts and water parks, swimwear and lifestyle brands, promotional and corporate gifting buyers, and distributors supplying any of those. Most of these programmes are design-led, which means the artwork deadline is usually the critical path rather than the production time.
What buyers notice first about a sublimated towel is that the print has no border. The image runs to the hem on all four sides, which is what makes it work for photographic artwork, all-over patterns and large logo treatments. A surface-printed towel always has a margin where the print stops, and a jacquard towel cannot reproduce a photograph at all.
What buyers notice second is how it feels. Sublimation adds no ink layer, so the towel keeps the hand it had before printing. A surface print, particularly a heavy one, stiffens the area it covers. On a towel that will be used rather than framed, that difference is worth having.
The trade-off is the fibre itself. Polyester does not absorb the way cotton does, so a sublimated towel is a different product from a cotton terry towel: it dries faster, weighs less, and feels cooler and smoother. That suits sport, pool and promotional use. It is not the towel a hotel puts in a guest bathroom, and specifying it as one is the mistake to avoid.
Our factory is in the Nantong Home Textile Zone in Jiangsu, China. Orders start at 500 pieces per style and colour with a typical four-week lead time after the sample and the artwork are approved, and artwork approval is normally what sets the date.
What sublimation actually does to the cloth
The process is unusual enough that it changes what can be designed and what cannot.
The chemistry
The artwork is printed in sublimation inks onto transfer paper, then pressed against the fabric at high temperature. The heat turns the dye into a gas, and the gas penetrates the polyester fibre and re-solidifies inside it. The colour is therefore part of the yarn, not a layer on top of it.
Why polyester only
The dye needs a polymer it can bond into, and polyester is the one that works. Cotton, bamboo and other cellulosic fibres have nothing for the gas to attach to, so the image either washes out or never takes properly. A 100 per cent cotton towel cannot be sublimated, and a low-polyester blend will only take a faint, unstable image.
What it means for hand feel and durability
Because no ink layer is added, the fabric keeps its original hand. Because the colour is inside the fibre, it does not crack, peel or flake, and it resists washing far better than a surface print. That combination — photographic detail plus wash durability — is why sublimation dominates sports, resort and promotional towels.

Sublimation against surface print and jacquard
Three ways to get an image onto a towel, and they do not substitute for each other.
Sublimation against surface print
Surface printing lays ink on the woven cloth, so it has a margin, it stiffens the printed area and it dulls with washing and abrasion. Sublimation has no margin, adds no weight and holds its colour far longer. Where the towel will be washed repeatedly, sublimation is the specification that survives.
Sublimation against jacquard
Jacquard weaves the design in coloured yarn, so it handles bold shapes and repeat patterns and never fades — but it cannot reproduce a photograph or a gradient. Sublimation handles photographs, gradients and fine detail but needs polyester. Customers who need both will normally run two specifications rather than compromise on one.
Colour and resolution
Sublimation reproduces photographic imagery and gradients well and holds fine detail that surface print loses. Colour is proofed on a physical sample rather than approved on screen, because the fabric substrate shifts the colour measurably from what a monitor shows.
Where sublimated towels are used
The material suits some applications and rules itself out of others.
Sport, events and clubs
Full-bleed printing on a light, fast-drying towel is what sports clubs, race events and gyms want: a large image on a towel that dries quickly and is cheap enough to give away. This is the largest part of the category.
Resorts, pools and water parks
Where a property wants branded pool towels that carry a designed pattern rather than a small logo, sublimation is the method that allows it. Polyester also dries fast between uses, which suits a pool deck.
Retail and promotional merchandise
Photographic artwork, licensed imagery and all-over patterns are all achievable, and the towel can be packed for a shelf or a gift channel. For a merchandise programme, artwork approval is usually the longest step in the schedule and should be planned first.
Where it is the wrong choice
It is not a guest bathroom towel. Polyester does not absorb like cotton, feels cooler and smoother, and does not give the plush impression a hotel bathroom is meant to give. A property specifying sublimation for guest rooms is buying the wrong material for the job.
What You Get
Why Source Sublimation Towels Wholesale From HotelsLinen
Full-bleed, edge-to-edge print
Artwork runs to the hem on all four sides with no margin, which is what makes photographic and all-over designs work on a towel.
Colour inside the fibre
The dye is gassed into the polyester and re-solidifies inside the yarn, so the print does not crack, peel or flake and resists washing far better than surface print.
No change to hand feel
Sublimation adds no ink layer, so the towel keeps the hand it had before printing — unlike a heavy surface print, which stiffens the area it covers.
Photographic detail and gradients
Fine detail and tone that surface printing loses and jacquard cannot reproduce at all.
Polyester or high-poly blend
The fabric that the process requires, in weights from a light sports towel to a full beach towel.
Artwork proofed on a physical sample
Colour approved on cloth rather than on screen, because the substrate shifts colour measurably from a monitor.
Retail and gift packing
Rolled, banded or polybagged presentation built around a shelf or a gift channel rather than bulk shipment.

FAQ
Common Questions
What is the MOQ for sublimation towels wholesale?
Our standard minimum is 500 pieces per style and colour. Most sublimation programmes carry several designs in one order, which can be combined once the artwork and specification are agreed.
Can you sublimate a cotton towel?
No. Sublimation dye only bonds to polyester, so a 100 per cent cotton towel has nothing for it to attach to — a better press or a longer dwell time does not change that. A sublimation programme has to be a polyester or high-polyester programme.
Is sublimation better than printing?
For different jobs. Sublimation gives full-bleed, photographic artwork with no margin and holds its colour through repeated washing, but needs polyester. Surface print works on cotton but leaves a margin, stiffens the printed area and dulls with abrasion. Jacquard never fades but cannot reproduce a photograph.
Will the print fade or crack?
It will not crack or peel, because the colour is inside the fibre rather than a layer on the surface. It resists washing far better than a surface print. As with any dyed textile, prolonged strong sunlight will eventually soften the colour, which is worth allowing for on a pool-side product.
Does sublimation make the towel feel different?
No. Because no ink layer is added, the fabric keeps its original hand. A heavy surface print does stiffen the area it covers, which is one of the practical differences between the two methods.
What sizes do sublimation towels come in?
Sports and event towels are commonly 40 x 80 cm or 50 x 100 cm, gym towels 30 x 100 cm, and beach or pool towels 80 x 160 cm. The size follows the artwork and how the towel will be used.
Can sublimation towels go in a hotel laundry?
Polyester tolerates laundering but dislikes very high temperature, so a sublimated towel should not be processed at the top end of a thermal disinfection cycle. They are normally used for pool, gym and promotional stock rather than for guest-room bathroom linen.
How is the artwork approved?
On a physical sample. The fabric substrate shifts colour measurably from what a screen shows, so proofing on cloth is the only reliable approval. Artwork approval is usually the longest step in the schedule, so it is worth starting it early.
How are sublimation towels packed?
Packing follows the channel: rolled and banded or polybagged for retail and gift programmes, folded and cartoned for club and event orders, with carton dimensions, weight and markings specified for your receiving area.
What is the lead time?
About four weeks after the sample and artwork are approved. Printing and dyeing are the production steps most likely to move the date, but on a design-led programme artwork approval is normally what sets it.
