Bulk Towels
Hotel Towels Wholesale
Hotel towels wholesale and bulk hotel towels, made to order for hotels, resorts, spas and hospitality distributors.
Hotel towels wholesale is a repeat-supply decision, not a one-off purchase. A property that opens with 400 rooms will re-order the same towel several times a year for years, and every re-order has to match the last one: the same weight in the hand, the same shade of white, the same size against the shelf, the same carton count on the receiving dock.
That is the constraint HotelsLinen is set up around. We manufacture bulk hotel towels to a written specification, hold that specification across repeat production, and quote it factory-direct from 500 pieces per style and colour.
The specification is a short list of decisions, and it is worth fixing all of them before the first bulk order rather than discovering them one at a time. Fibre and yarn decide how the towel feels new and how it behaves after fifty washes. Weight, expressed as GSM, decides how much water the towel takes up and how long it takes to dry. Size decides what fits the towel rail and what the laundry trolley can carry. Border and dobby decide whether the towel reads as guest-grade or as utility stock. Colour decides whether replacements match the batch three years later. Logo method decides whether branding survives industrial laundering.
None of those decisions is difficult on its own. The trouble is that changing any one of them after production has started means a new warp, a new dye lot or a new program, and that is what makes a re-order late.
So the way a hotel towel programme is usually run here is front-loaded. A buyer sends the target: room count, property tier, laundry arrangement, target unit cost and the in-service life they expect. We come back with two or three specifications that meet it, the price at each, and the differences that actually matter between them. The buyer picks one, we sample it, and the sample becomes the reference the bulk order is measured against.
Bulk hotel towels are bought by hotels, resorts, serviced apartments, spas, cruise operators, laundry groups and hospitality distributors. What those buyers have in common is that the towel is not the product they sell, it is part of the room they sell. It has to be right the first time and the same the fifth time, because a guest who notices a towel usually notices it for the wrong reason.
Our factory is in the Nantong Home Textile Zone in Jiangsu, China, which is one of the denser towel-weaving clusters in the country. Weaving, dyeing, cutting, sewing, embroidery and packing sit inside that supply chain, and being inside it is what makes it practical to hold a specification and a shade across repeat orders rather than re-sourcing the towel each season.
Orders start at 500 pieces per style and colour, with a typical four-week lead time after the sample and specification are approved. Larger programmes are quoted in tiers, and mixed programmes can combine bath towels, hand towels, washcloths and bath sheets once the specification is fixed. The rest of this page sets out what each specification decision changes, and what to send us to get a quotation.
What hotel buyers specify before a bulk towel order
Six decisions carry almost all of the difference between one hotel towel programme and another. Fixing them in writing before the first order is what makes the fifth order arrive correct.
Fibre and yarn
Standard cotton covers most hotel programmes and gives the best balance of absorbency, durability and price. Egyptian cotton uses a longer staple fibre, which means fewer fibre ends reach the surface, so the towel feels softer and sheds less lint over its life. Turkish cotton behaves similarly and is often chosen where the property markets its bathrooms. Bamboo and cotton-bamboo blends are chosen for a silkier handle and faster drying. Microfiber is a different product altogether: lighter, much faster drying, and usually specified for gyms, pools and high-turnover utility towels rather than guest bathrooms.
The yarn also decides how the towel ages. A ring-spun yarn produces a denser, stronger towel that holds up across industrial laundering; an open-end yarn is cheaper and lighter in the hand. Where a programme is being replaced because the old towels went thin, the yarn is usually the reason, not the weight.
Weight, expressed as GSM
GSM is grams per square metre and it is the single number that most reliably predicts how a towel behaves. Guest towels for mid-market hotels commonly sit around 400 to 500 GSM. Upper-upscale and luxury properties often specify 550 to 700 GSM for the heavier, plusher hand. Utility towels — pool, gym, housekeeping — usually sit lower, from 350 GSM down, because they are washed more often and dried in larger volumes.
Heavier is not automatically better. A 700 GSM bath towel takes longer to dry, costs more to launder and occupies more of the trolley, so the right number follows the property and the laundry rather than the brochure.
Size
Hotel towels are usually specified in inches and centimetres together so the factory and the housekeeping team are describing the same object. Common guest sizes are around 70 x 140 cm for a bath towel and 100 x 150 cm for a bath sheet, with hand towels near 40 x 70 cm and washcloths near 30 x 30 cm.
Two practical constraints decide the final numbers: what the towel rail and shelf are built for, and what the in-house or contract laundry can process. A towel that is 5 cm too long does not sit on the rail the way the last one did.
Border and dobby
The border is the decorative band woven into the towel, and the dobby is the raised geometric pattern. Both are woven in, not printed, so they survive laundering. A simple dobby border is the standard hotel look; a plain or cam-border is used where the towel is mostly hidden or used in utility roles. Border width and position can be specified, and the border colour is a separate decision from the body colour.
This is the cheapest part of the specification to change and one of the most visible, which is why it is worth settling against a photograph or a physical sample rather than a description.
Colour and shade consistency
White remains the dominant hotel choice because it can be bleached and because a mismatched white is less obvious than a mismatched colour. Where a property uses colour, the shade is normally matched to a Pantone reference or to an approved physical swatch that we keep on file.
The part buyers underestimate is the re-order. A towel bought in year one and replaced in year three has to match, and it will not if the shade was matched to an approximate description the first time. Keeping a physical reference is what makes the third order possible.
Logo method
Embroidery is the most common hotel branding and the most durable — a raised, dimensionally stable logo that survives repeated industrial washing. Woven labels are used where the logo has fine detail or many colours, and are sewn in during making-up. Printed logos suit flat-weave utility towels and promotional work where the run is large and the budget is tight.
Three things decide the method: the level of detail in the artwork, the number of colours, and how many laundering cycles the towel is expected to survive. Logo placement, size and colour are confirmed on the sample before bulk production.
Hotel towel specification reference
A starting point for the specification conversation. These are the ranges we build to most often — the exact figures for a programme are set from the property, the laundry and the budget, and confirmed on the sample.
| Item | Common hotel range | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Bath towel | 70 x 140 cm · 450–600 GSM | The default guest towel for most properties |
| Bath sheet | 100 x 150 cm · 500–700 GSM | Upper-upscale and suite bathrooms |
| Hand towel | 40 x 70 cm · 400–550 GSM | Matched to the bath towel specification |
| Washcloth | 30 x 30 cm · 400–500 GSM | Usually the first item to be replaced |
| Pool / gym towel | 80 x 160 cm · 350–450 GSM | Often microfiber for drying speed |
| Fibre | Cotton · Egyptian · Turkish · Bamboo · Microfiber | Yarn type affects how the towel ages, not just the handle |
| Border | Dobby · cam · plain | Woven in; border colour is a separate decision |
| Logo | Embroidery · woven label · print | Placement and size confirmed on the sample |
| MOQ | 500 pieces per style and colour | Mixed programmes can combine item types |
| Lead time | About 4 weeks after sample approval | Dyeing and embroidery are the two variable steps |
How a bulk hotel towel order runs
Sampling
The sample is the reference the whole order is measured against, so it is worth getting right rather than fast. Send the target specification and we produce a towel in that construction. What buyers normally check on it is the handle, the true dimensions after washing, the shade against the existing stock, and how the border sits after a wash cycle.
MOQ and tiered pricing
The minimum is 500 pieces per style and colour, which covers the cost of setting the warp and running a dye lot. Above that, price improves in tiers because the same setup is spread across more pieces. It is worth telling us the first quantity and the annual volume together, because a programme that repeats can be planned and priced differently from a single order.
Production and lead time
A typical order runs about four weeks after the sample and specification are approved. Weaving and dyeing run first, then cutting, sewing and any embroidery, then packing. Dyeing and embroidery are the two steps that move the date, which is why the shade reference and the logo artwork are worth settling at the sampling stage.
Packing and carton data
Hotel buyers rarely receive towels straight to a shelf, so packing is specified rather than assumed: pieces per polybag, pieces per carton, carton dimensions and weight, and the carton markings the receiving team needs. Where towels go into a linen room by room type, the carton split can follow the room mix rather than being an even number per box.
Why bulk hotel towels are bought by laundry cycle, not by softness
A guest towel in a hotel is washed far more often than a domestic towel and usually at a higher temperature with a stronger bleach. The property is not buying softness, it is buying a predictable number of cycles before the towel is retired — and the specification should be chosen against that number.
Two spec decisions dominate the outcome. The first is yarn: ring-spun cotton holds its structure across repeated industrial washing where a lighter open-end yarn goes flat and thin. The second is the balance between weight and drying time. A heavier towel feels better on the first night and takes longer to dry on every night after that, so a property with limited drying capacity sometimes gets a longer service life from a mid-weight towel than from the heaviest one.
This is also why replacing a towel programme usually goes wrong at the weight and the shade rather than at the fibre. Those are the two things a guest and a housekeeping team notice immediately, and they are the two things that are hardest to correct after a warp has been set.

FAQ
Common Questions
What is the MOQ for bulk hotel towels?
Our standard minimum is 500 pieces per style and colour, which covers setting the warp and running a dye lot. Above that, pricing improves in tiers. A mixed programme can combine bath towels, hand towels, washcloths and bath sheets once the specification is agreed.
Do you supply hotel towels wholesale, or only luxury towels?
Both. Everyday hotel towels and heavier luxury hotel towels wholesale are made on the same equipment to different specifications. The choice usually follows the property tier and the laundry arrangement rather than the brand positioning alone.
What GSM should hotel towels be?
Mid-market guest towels commonly sit around 450 to 550 GSM, upper-upscale and suite towels around 550 to 700 GSM, and pool or utility towels lower, from about 350 GSM. Heavier feels plusher but dries more slowly and costs more to launder, so the right number depends on the property and its drying capacity.
How long does a bulk hotel towel order take?
About four weeks after the sample and specification are approved. Weaving and dyeing run first, then cutting, sewing and embroidery, then packing. Dyeing and embroidery are the two steps most likely to move the date.
Can hotel towels carry our logo?
Yes. Embroidery, woven labels and printing are all available. Embroidery is the most durable for hotels; woven labels suit detailed multi-colour artwork; printing suits large runs on flat-weave utility towels. Placement, size and colour are confirmed on the sample.
Will a re-order match the towels we bought before?
It will if the specification and a physical shade reference were kept. We hold fibre, weight, size, border and logo on file, and match colour to a Pantone reference or an approved swatch. That is what makes a dye lot matchable years later — an approximate colour description is not.
Can you supply a mixed programme across room types?
Yes. A single programme can carry a heavier towel for suites, a standard guest towel and a lighter utility towel. Keeping all three on one specification system also means the shade and the border stay consistent across the property.
How are the towels packed?
Packing is specified rather than assumed: pieces per polybag, pieces per carton, carton dimensions and weight, and the carton markings your receiving team needs. Where linen is issued by room type, the carton split can follow the room mix.
Can I check a sample before placing a bulk order?
Yes, and for a repeat programme it is worth it. A physical sample lets you check the handle, the true dimensions after washing, the shade against existing stock and how the border sits — all before the bulk order is cut.
Do you work with distributors as well as hotels?
Yes. We supply hotels, resorts, serviced apartments, spas, cruise operators and hospitality distributors. Distributors usually buy against a fixed specification and a repeat schedule, which is the model this page is built around.
