Bulk Towels
Gym Towels Bulk
Bulk gym towels and fitness towels for clubs, studios, sports facilities and branded programmes.
A gym does not buy towels by the room, it buys them by the member visit. That single difference changes the whole specification: the question is not how a towel looks on a rail, but how many towels a day the club gets through, how fast they dry, and whether the laundry can keep up on a Saturday morning.
The arithmetic is straightforward once it is written down. Take the number of member visits per day, multiply by the proportion who take a towel, and add the towels the studio classes consume. That gives the daily issue. Multiply by the number of days between laundry runs and add a margin for towels in transit and in the wash, and that is the working stock.
The number that usually comes as a surprise is the ratio between working stock and daily issue. A club that issues 300 towels a day and washes daily still needs well over 300 pieces in circulation, because at any moment some are on the rack, some are in the basket, some are in the machine and some are in the drier. Most clubs end up somewhere between two and three times the daily issue.
That ratio is also why drying speed matters more than softness in this category. A cotton terry towel at 500 GSM takes materially longer to dry than a lighter terry or a microfiber towel, and in a club with limited drying capacity the slower towel sets a hard ceiling on how many the laundry can turn around. Buying heavier towels can reduce the effective size of the club towel fleet.
HotelsLinen manufactures bulk gym towels from 500 pieces per style and colour, in cotton terry, microfiber and blends. Buyers specify the fibre, the size, the weight, the colour and the branding, and we hold the specification across reorders so the fifth batch matches the first.
Gym towels are bought by fitness clubs and health clubs, yoga and pilates studios, hotel gyms and spas, sports facilities and academies, wellness chains, and distributors and apparel brands selling into those markets. Programmes are usually either rental-style — issued to members and laundered on site — or retail-style, where the towel is sold or given as branded merchandise.
Branding behaves differently in each. On a rental programme the logo has to survive industrial washing hundreds of times, which points to embroidery. On a retail or merchandise programme the towel is rarely washed at 90 degrees, so woven labels and printing become practical and often give a sharper result against the artwork.
Our factory is in the Nantong Home Textile Zone in Jiangsu, China. Orders start at 500 pieces per style and colour with a typical four-week lead time after the sample and specification are approved, and we quote within 24 hours of receiving the brief.
How many towels a gym actually needs
Clubs that run out of towels on a Monday morning have usually sized the order from the daily issue rather than from the working stock. The difference is the whole problem.
Start from member visits, not from members
A club with 2,000 members and a 12 per cent daily attendance rate sees around 240 visits a day, not 2,000 towels. Ask the front desk for the actual door count rather than the membership number, because attendance rates vary enormously between a city gym and a residential one.
The working stock ratio
Working stock is everything in circulation, not everything issued. Towels that are on the rack, in the return basket, in the wash, in the drier and folded on the shelf are all part of the fleet. In practice clubs need roughly two to three times the daily issue, more if the laundry runs less than daily or if drying capacity is tight.
Drying capacity is the real limit
The ceiling on how many towels a club can turn around is set by the driers, not by the washers. A heavier towel holds more water and takes longer to dry, which reduces the number of cycles the laundry can complete in a day. Where drying is the constraint, a lighter or microfiber towel can increase the effective fleet size without buying a single extra piece.
Microfiber or cotton terry
This is the first question in almost every gym brief, and the answer is usually driven by the laundry rather than by the member.
Cotton terry
Cotton terry feels like a towel, which matters where members take one to the shower as well as to the gym floor. It absorbs well and tolerates industrial washing and heat. The cost is drying time: a 450 to 550 GSM terry towel needs a real drying cycle, and that is what limits throughput in clubs with limited drier capacity.
Microfiber
Microfiber is lighter, dries in a fraction of the time and takes up far less space in a locker or a gym bag. It is the usual choice for studio classes, spin rooms and clubs where the towel is issued for a workout rather than for a shower. The trade-off is hand feel: a member expecting a fluffy towel will notice the difference.
Which clubs pick which
Premium health clubs with showers and a full laundry usually run cotton terry for the changing rooms and lighter towels or microfiber for the gym floor and studios. Budget and 24-hour gyms more often standardise on microfiber across the board, because drying speed and storage volume dominate everything else.

Branding: laundered stock and retail stock are different products
The same logo needs a different construction depending on what happens to the towel after it is issued.
On a rental programme
Towels returned to the club and washed industrially will see hundreds of cycles. Embroidery is the durable choice here; a printed logo on a towel washed at high temperature with bleach will not survive the same number of cycles. Where a member-facing logo is required on laundered stock, embroidery is the default.
On a retail or merchandise programme
A towel sold in the shop, given to new members or used as a promotion is rarely washed at industrial temperature, so woven labels and printing are both practical. Printing gives sharper detail and more colours; a woven label gives a more premium feel and lasts longer against abrasion.
Colour and wear
Light colours show every mark on a gym floor towel, and dark colours fade visibly if they are washed hot with bleach. Where the towel is a working item rather than a display item, choose a mid or dark shade and specify the wash regime it will survive. Where it is branded merchandise, choose the colour against the brand and accept a gentler wash.
What You Get
Why Source Gym Towels Bulk From HotelsLinen
Sized from member throughput
The specification starts from daily towel issue and the working stock ratio, not from the membership number — which is where most clubs mis-size the first order.
Microfiber and cotton terry
Both constructions made here, so one programme can carry a terry shower towel and a microfiber floor towel under a single reorder schedule.
Drying speed as a specification
Where drier capacity limits the club, a lighter or microfiber towel raises the number of pieces the laundry can turn around without buying more equipment.
Branding matched to the wash regime
Embroidery for stock that goes back into industrial laundering; woven labels and printing for retail and merchandise towels.
Sizes for floor, studio and shower
Floor and studio towels cut to drape over equipment, plus full-size shower towels where members change on site.
Colours that survive a gym floor
Mid and dark shades specified for working towels, with colour matched to a Pantone reference or approved swatch for reorders.
Packing for club storage
Pieces per polybag and per carton set against how the towel is issued at the desk and stored in the laundry.

FAQ
Common Questions
What is the MOQ for gym towels bulk?
Our standard minimum is 500 pieces per style and colour. Most clubs order more than that because the working stock ratio means the fleet has to cover towels in use, in the basket, in the wash and in the drier at the same time.
How many towels does a gym need?
Start from the daily door count, not the membership. Multiply member visits per day by the proportion who take a towel, multiply that by the days between laundry runs, then add margin for towels in circulation. In practice clubs need roughly two to three times the daily issue, more if drying capacity is tight.
Are microfiber or cotton gym towels better?
It depends on whether members shower on site. Cotton terry feels like a towel and absorbs well but dries slowly; microfiber dries in a fraction of the time and takes up far less space. Where the laundry is the bottleneck, microfiber increases the effective size of the fleet.
What size are gym towels usually?
Floor and studio towels commonly run 30 x 100 cm or 35 x 100 cm, sized to drape over equipment. Studio and yoga towels are smaller, around 30 x 60 cm. Where members shower at the club, a full 70 x 140 cm towel is normally supplied separately.
Can our logo go on gym towels?
Yes. On towels that go back into industrial laundry, embroidery is the durable choice. On retail, merchandise or promotional towels, woven labels and printing are both practical and usually give a sharper result against the artwork.
How fast do gym towels wear out?
It follows the wash regime. A club towel washed after every issue at high temperature can see several hundred cycles a year, which is what retires it. Ring-spun cotton and a securely finished edge extend the life; nothing prevents thinning except weight.
Can you supply both terry and microfiber in one order?
Yes. Mixed programmes are routine — a terry towel for the changing rooms and a microfiber towel for the gym floor — and keeping them with one supplier means one reorder schedule and one shade standard.
What is the lead time?
About four weeks after the sample and specification are approved. Dyeing and any embroidery are the two steps most likely to move the date.
How are gym towels packed?
Pieces per polybag and per carton are set against how the towel is issued at the desk and stored in the laundry, with carton dimensions, weight and markings specified for your receiving area.
Do you supply yoga studios and sports facilities as well as gyms?
Yes. Gym towels are bought by fitness and health clubs, yoga and pilates studios, hotel gyms, sports facilities and academies, wellness chains, and distributors and apparel brands selling into those markets.
